Horizon Europe “Africa Initiative IV” Webinar Focus On South Africa

The Horizon Europe “Africa Initiative IV” Webinar – Focus on South Africa brought together the science, technology, and innovation community from South Africa and Europe to explore collaboration opportunities under the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026–2027.

The webinar focused on the Africa Initiative IV, which includes 25 funding topics supporting joint research and innovation in areas such as public health, the green transition, innovation and technology, research capacities, and cross-cutting challenges. Participants also received practical guidance on identifying funding opportunities, building strong international consortia, preparing competitive proposals, and using the Horizon Europe Funding & Tenders Portal and the EURAXESS platform.

DIGITAfrica was represented by project partner University of Cape Town, which participated in the webinar alongside researchers, policymakers, and innovation stakeholders from Africa and Europe. The event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase DIGITAfrica’s objectives and strengthen the project’s visibility within the Horizon Europe community, while promoting new opportunities for research collaboration, international networking, and Africa–Europe scientific cooperation.
