DIGITAfrica partners meet in Barcelona for the fifth plenary meeting!
On 8–9 October 2026, the DIGITAfrica consortium gathered in Barcelona, Spain, for its fifth plenary meeting, hosted by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).
The two-day meeting provided an opportunity for partners to review progress across all Work Packages, discuss ongoing technical and strategic activities, and coordinate the next steps towards the design of a pan-African Research Infrastructure in Digital Sciences.
Discussions focused on the development of the project’s technical blueprints and the coordination of pilot activities. Partners exchanged updates and considered priorities for the next phase of implementation.
Training and capacity building were also central to the agenda, with discussions covering training activities, educational resources and upcoming events to support digital skills development.
The consortium explored opportunities to strengthen stakeholder engagement, policy dialogue and collaboration across Europe and Africa. Partners also reviewed dissemination and communication activities to increase the visibility of DIGITAfrica’s work and engage relevant audiences.
Alongside the meeting, participants had the opportunity to visit BSC’s supercomputing facilities and take a closer look at its computing infrastructure.
The plenary offered a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives, strengthen collaboration and align priorities across the consortium as the project moves forward.
We thank the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for hosting us and all partners for their active participation and constructive contributions.
