17th Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA)
The 17th Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) Annual Conference, held in Nairobi (Kenya), brought together higher education stakeholders to address the evolving role of universities in responding to rapid social, economic and technological transformations.
As national higher education systems face increasing pressure to become more relevant, inclusive and responsive, the conference provided a regional platform to exchange experiences, align policies and strengthen partnerships towards shared goals for the future of higher education in East Africa.
DIGITAfrica participated in the conference through project partner Strathmore University, represented by the Strathmore School of Computing and Engineering Sciences, which contributed to the panel session “Building a Regional AI Network of Excellence for Higher Education, Research and Innovation.”
DIGITAfrica also participated in the launch meeting of the Regional Network on Artificial Intelligence in Education and Research, organised by UNESCO, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and partner organisations. The event provided an opportunity to explore potential synergies between DIGITAfrica and the Regional AI Network initiative, reinforcing shared objectives in advancing AI, research capacity building and innovation across the African continent.
