AIAS Workshop on Science Diplomacy and Language Technology
The Science Diplomacy meets Pluriversality in Language Technology: Recognizing and Fostering Alternate Pathways to Language Technology / AI* is an international workshop organised by the Aarhus Institute for Advanced Studies, with the support of several collaborating institutions, including DIGITAfrica project partner University of Ngaoundéré. The event brought together researchers and experts to explore the role of science diplomacy in advancing inclusive and pluralistic approaches to language technologies and Artificial Intelligence, with a particular focus on fostering collaboration across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts.
DIGITAfrica was represented by project partners, Barcelona Supercomputing Center and University of Ngaoundéré. During the workshop, project members delivered the presentation “DIGITAfrica AI Blueprint and Stakeholders Engagement”, showcasing the project’s strategy for developing an inclusive AI framework and strengthening stakeholder engagement across Africa.
The presentation highlighted DIGITAfrica’s commitment to promoting collaborative, responsible, and locally relevant AI and language technology ecosystems, while also contributing to the project’s annual dissemination targets through scientific presentations and conference participation.
